The Commission oversees residential aged care services, home care services, and flexible care services by:
- Assessing and monitoring government-funded aged care services against the Aged Care Quality Standards
- Ensuring new organisations providing aged care services are suitable

- Requiring aged care providers to make changes when they are not meeting the standards
