Supplier and Partner Code of Conduct

Introduction

As a ‘profit-for-purpose’ business, Hireup sits between the charity and for-profit sectors. We are building a scalable, financially sustainable company to have social impact, to better support people with disability and shift societal norms.

Hireup is committed to acting with integrity in our business relationships and to fostering an environment where all people are supported and treated with dignity and respect. We are working proactively to reduce the risk of Modern Slavery within our operations and supply chains.

Modern Slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory human labour, human trafficking, child labour, debt bondage and deceptive recruiting for labour.

We expect our suppliers and partners to share our commitment to acting lawfully and ethically and to actively manage the risk of Modern Slavery in their operations or supply chains.

It is a condition of Hireup’s agreements that Suppliers and Partners adhere to this Supplier and Partner Code of Conduct (“Code”).

Purpose

Hireup is committed to achieving the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of the business by promoting such behaviour within the company and to its external suppliers. It is expected that all suppliers and partners conduct themselves ethically, honestly and comply with corporate governance and corporate compliance at all times.

Hireup’s commitment to implementing and promoting ethical conduct extends to combating all forms of modern slavery and to reducing the risk of modern slavery practices within our operations and supply chain.

This Code also supports the intent of international conventions, treaties and protocols relevant to combatting modern slavery. For details please refer to: Modern Slavery Act 2018.

Scope

This Code applies to all of our suppliers and partners and is implemented to ensure that all suppliers and partners adhere to the expected standards of ethical behaviour and integrity in their business operations.

Hireup encourages our suppliers to advise us of any unethical practices and to follow our suggested reporting guidelines below.

We may ask our suppliers and partners to demonstrate that they work in the ways required by this Code. Any supplier or partner that has concerns about complying must promptly advise Hireup.

Principles

This Code sets out the minimum standards of behaviour that we expect of our suppliers and partners including their agents, subcontractors and intermediaries to adhere to with a specific focus on Modern Slavery. We will provide guidance to anyone who requests further support to adhere to the Code.

We expect our suppliers, partners including their agents, subcontractors and intermediaries, to:

  1. Not engage in child labour (as defined by the Act);
  2. Not use forced labour - slave, prison, indentured, bonded, or otherwise;
  3. Not traffic workers or exploit workers in any way by means of threat, force, coercion, abduction, or fraud;
  4. Not withhold worker identification or working visa documents;
  5. Not engage in, directly or indirectly, fraud, corrupt activities such as bribery, exploitation, collusion or other criminal activities in relation to procurement of goods and services;
  6. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to anti-bribery, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, export and trade controls;
  7. Provide workers with clear terms and conditions of employment or engagement in a language understood by them;
  8. Pay fair wages in line with the applicable legislation and awards for the industry and market;
  9. Treat workers with dignity and respect;
  10. Provide a safe environment free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, threats, bullying and victimisation;
  11. Oppose Modern Slavery in all forms;
  12. Not engage in any dishonest or illegal conduct; and
  13. Monitor supply chains for non-compliance with points 1-12 above whether that non-compliance be directly or indirectly.

Reporting

We encourage all our suppliers and partners to read and familiarise themselves with this Code and act in accordance with it.

This document will be reviewed annually unless legislative or organisational changes require earlier review.
