How to apply for ILO funding

Applying for ILO funding is a three stage process.

  1. You first need to let the NDIA know that you need support to achieve a housing goal.
  2. You then take several months to explore with a service provider what you might like your ILO arrangement to look like.
  3. Then you submit a "ILO Service Proposal" to the NDIA, and once they've approved it, you get on with implementing your plan.

Importantly, any ILO funding you request must meet the NDIS’s reasonable and necessary criteria.

Stage 0: Getting a housing goal into your plan

To access ILO funding, you'll first have to signal to the NDIA that you would like support to achieve a housing goal.

In Stage 1 of ILO, the NDIA decides what necessary and reasonable supports they can provide to you, by considering the following questions:

Stage 2: Setting up your ILO supports

In Stage 2: ILO Supports, you and your provider work together to set up your ILO supports. Before this occurs, the NDIA assess whether your ILO supports stated in your ILO Service Proposal:

  • Are reasonable and necessary.
  • Suit your needs and circumstances.
  • Are value for money.

To determine if your ILO supports are reasonable and necessary, the NDIA will consider the following questions:
