When you receive an NDIS package, you can choose how to manage your funding. There are 3 ways to manage NDIS funds:
- Self managed
- NDIA managed (which is also known as Agency managed)
- Plan managed
NDIS Plan managed is recommended if you do not have the time or resources to manage your own invoices. It can be especially useful if you use a variety of providers.
There are many ways to find an NDIS plan manager: You can connect with a plan manager by asking your NDIS contact (e.g. your local area coordinator, support coordinator or early childhood partner) or by getting recommendation from your peers.
NDIS Plan managers can assist you with the management of your funding. They can also receive and disburse funds on your behalf. While plan managers can provide support with managing an NDIS budget, it’s important to note that it’s your responsibility to keep track of your funding and ensure that you don’t overspend.
If you’re using Hireup to find and manage support workers, you can organise for a plan manager to pay your invoices on your behalf. If you are using a plan manager and are wanting to book support workers through Hireup, you’ll be asked for your plan manager’s details when setting up your Hireup profile.
Once you’ve started using a plan manager to assist with your NDIS budget, it is important to maintain open communication with your plan manager about your NDIS plan and how much you are spending. While plan managers are there to assist you with managing your NDIS funding, not all plan managers have capacity to track your spending and ensure that you’re keeping within your budget. This is why it’s important to maintain open communication with your plan manager about your spending.
It’s also important to request copies of invoices so you have a record and to make sure that you’re being charged for what you’ve booked.
