The holiday season, supported.

21st November 2024

It's nearly the end of 2025 already - which means more sun, holidays and quite often... changes to regular support routines.

It's important to think about support schedules during the summer holidays. Whether you’re needing extra support for holiday activities or to cover a shift for if a regular support worker taking a break — here are some things you can do to make sure that you're supported for the summer!

For clients:

  • Let your support workers know your availability and what support you require over the holiday season.
  • If your regular support workers are unavailable and you need assistance finding cover, update your “I’m looking for support” status. We recommend posting a job to the job board or using the search and message function. We’re also here to help, so if you’re stuck, please contact our team.
  • Remember to approve your workers' bookings so they are paid on time.
  • If you’re travelling away from home, why not connect with new support workers at your destination? Be sure to search and message support workers in a new location or post a job on the job board

For support workers:

  • Let your clients know if you're taking a break or have any schedule changes in the summer holidays.
  • If you're wanting to take on more shifts and connect with new clients, update your availability and ‘looking for work’ status.
  • Respond to messages and check the job board for new summer holiday jobs posted near you.
  • If a client you support is seeking a support worker to cover any extra shifts over the break, ask them to post a job on the job board or use the search and message function.

For support coordinators

  • Let your participants know if you or your team are taking a break or have any schedule changes during the summer holidays and how they can connect over this time if needed.
  • Understand if your participants or their workers are taking breaks or have changes in their usual routines. This way you can plan ahead to ensure your participants have the right support when they need it.
  • If there are gaps in support, make sure you post on the job board now, so you can feel confident that they have the right support booked for the summer break.
  • Consider getting ahead and begin booking in regular and recurring supports for your participants in 2025!
