Annie and Stew have a strong support connection that revolves around Annie’s ‘exceptional’ and ‘proactive’ support and (more importantly), their mutual love of dogs. Nominated by Stew, Annie was recently awarded a Hireup Good Life Award, recognising her reliability and going above and beyond in her support work.
What are the Good Life Awards?
The Hireup Good Life Awards celebrate some of the best support workers in our community. This year more than 500 support workers were nominated by their clients. Shortlisted finalists receive a $500 prize and ten winners receive $1000.
Stew's heartfelt nomination paints a vivid picture of Annie's exceptional care and dedication, and it's clear that she truly deserves a 'Good Life Award' for her unwavering commitment.
In his nomination, Stew wrote,“My support worker Annie is an amazing carer and person. Annie performs her work to the highest standards to ensure I’m comfortable and ready for the day. I rely on Annie for personal care, domestic support and community social support services. She makes sure my health, and well-being are maintained to the highest standard. I’m humbled to know such an exceptional support worker and I feel very fortunate. Moreover, out of the dozens and dozens of support workers over my thirty plus years getting support, I can say without a doubt that Annie totally deserves a ‘Good Life Award’ for going beyond her duties.”
Annie's surprise and joy at being nominated for a Good Life Award was evident - and more so when she found out she’d won!
This was her reaction:
What else makes Annie and Stew a story worth celebrating? Their mutual obsession with dogs. “We’re both dog people,” says Annie, “and it’s important to Stewart that his support workers love dogs and play with his dog Freya.”
“Stewart enjoys us playing with his dog together,” explains Annie. “The other day Stew and I took his dog Freya to go and visit his mother who is 83 and lives on a large acreage. Freya had a nice open space to go for a walk and play with other dogs that live there. This made Freya very happy which made us happy.”
“Not all people love dogs as much as Stewart and I and we’re grateful to have this mutual love of dogs,” says Annie.
