What is included in each level of the Home Care Package?
Home Care Packages provide access to services so you can live independently in your own home for as long as possible. Each level of care includes access to the same services, but the main difference is how much support you can receive.
As your needs increase from Level 1 through to Level 4, so does the amount of help available to you. The services span several key areas of daily living. For personal care, you can receive assistance with bathing, getting dressed, grooming, and moving around safely. If you're finding meal preparation challenging, your package can include help with cooking, assistance during mealtimes, and even support for special dietary requirements.
Your home environment matters
Packages include domestic assistance for cleaning, laundry, and household chores. To keep your surroundings safe and accessible, you can also access home and garden maintenance services, along with minor home modifications like grab rails or ramps.
Health and well-being are central to these packages. You can receive nursing care, medication management, and access to allied health services such as physiotherapy and podiatry. For mobility and independence, various aids and equipment are available, from walking frames to wheelchairs and specialised utensils.
Staying connected to community is important for well-being
Transportation to appointments and social activities is included, along with social support to facilitate outings and visitors. For those with carers, respite care provides essential breaks.
It's worth noting that as you move up through the package levels, the frequency and intensity of these services increase significantly. At Level 1, you might receive help once or twice weekly for basic needs, while Level 4 typically involves daily support for complex care requirements.
Your package funding won't cover everything
There are some exclusions, like fees for other government-funded care, entertainment costs, holiday expenses, or home modifications unrelated to your care needs.
Home Care Packages do, however, offer flexibility, and by working with your approved provider, you can design a care plan that focuses on what matters most to you, ensuring the available funding addresses your priority needs.
