Am I eligible for the NDIS?
To find out if you are eligible for NDIS funding, you will have to provide evidence of your disability to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The NDIA will review what your disability is, how long it will last and how it impacts your life.
Here are the NDIS eligibility criteria for disability funding.
What are the requirements for the NDIS?
Age
You must be aged between 7 and 65.
If you are over the age of 65, you may be able to apply for NDIS and Aged Care.
If you have a child under the age of 7 in your care, then you may be eligible for Early Childhood Early Intervention.
Residence
Are you an Australian citizen?
You must live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, permanent visa holder or protected special category visa holder.
If you do not meet this criteria, then you may be able to apply for a different type of funding.
Do you live in Australia?
You must live in Australia to be eligible for the NDIS.
Support needs
To be eligible for the NDIS, you will need to meet the following support requirements.
- You need support from another person because of a permanent and significant disability, and/or
- You use special equipment because of a permanent and significant disability and/or
- You need immediate support to reduce your future needs.
