What is covered under NDIS home cleaning?

NDIS home cleaning covers essential household tasks that a participant can’t perform due to their disability.

As of 2026, services including vacuuming, mopping, kitchen and bathroom sanitisation, and dusting are covered under NDIS home cleaning.

These supports are funded under the assistance with daily life budget at a capped national rate of $60.01 per hour, as long as they meet the reasonable and necessary criteria.

Am I eligible for NDIS home cleaning?

To access NDIS home cleaning under the 2026 framework, the support must be directly related to your disability and not general lifestyle expenses.

Under the NDIS Amendment (Integrity and Safeguarding) Bill 2025, the NDIA has strengthened the link between functional impairment and funded supports.

Most registered (including Hireup) and non-registered providers can offer cleaning services, provided you are eligible and meet the following criteria:

  • Functional capacity: You must demonstrate that your disability prevents you from performing essential household tasks safely.
  • Core support budget: You must have funding allocated under assistance with daily life.
  • Informal support assessment: The NDIA considers whether family or housemates can reasonably provide the cleaning support first.
  • Goal alignment: Your plan must include a goal related to maintaining a safe and independent living environment.

What is covered by NDIS home cleaning?
