Portia’s support is unique to her. Sometimes Portia and her support worker Sam are picking vegetables from her garden, doing a full day of cooking and other times they’re walking Houdini, Portia's miniature horse.
With over 100 bookings together, Portia and her support worker Sam have spent plenty of time together, from gardening and cooking, to exercise and social support.
They've both been on Hireup for a few years, and both enjoy the autonomy and choice they have on the platform.
"What's great about Hireup is that you get to really choose the right fit for you," says support worker Sam. "It's nice for both of us, for both sides, to be able to choose. I [also] love the variety."
Portia echoes that sentiment. "Lots of people don't get me. But Sam gets me 100 per cent."
