What is a plan manager?

17th November 2019

If you're eligible for the NDIS, a Plan Manager can provide a connection between you, the NDIS, service providers and the NDIA.

A Plan Manager acts on your behalf to help you use funding and achieve NDIS goals. If you choose to use a Plan Manager, they will:

  • pay providers for the support you choose
  • help keep track of your funds
  • take care of financials
  • help you choose providers
  • claim money from relevant budget categories on the NDIA portal

Plan Management is one of the four options to manage your NDIS funds. The other three options are self managed, NDIA managed or a combination of these options.

For more information about managing your NDIS funds, please visit our blog.

Is plan management for me?

A Plan Manager can help you manage your NDIS funding and budgets.

Plan management gives you choice to:

  • decide on providers you use
  • use NDIS registered providers
  • make decisions that align with your plan
  • keep track of your budget on the myplace portal

Choosing a plan manager

It’s important to choose a Plan Manager that suits you. This means understanding what each Plan Manager might offer. Some important characteristics of a Plan Manager could include:

  • Trust
  • Expertise
  • Understanding
  • Customer service

You need to be able to trust your Plan Manager to take care of your NDIS funding and budgets. A Plan Manager should be able to give you valuable and expert advice on the NDIS. As well as this, they shouldn’t influence you to choose certain providers and will have your interests and NDIS goals as their priority.
