Adrian loves sport. But athletics is his real passion. Sprinting, long jump, turbo javelin. You name it, Adrian loves it. In October, Adrian will be representing Team Victoria at Special Olympic Australia's National Games in Tasmania.
Assisting Adrian with his training in the lead up to the Games is his Hireup support worker Luke. Together, they loosen their muscles and exchange banter about their favourite AFL teams.
“We have a fierce rivalry,” Adrian laughs. “Luke understands me and we talk about our favourite things.”
Adrian and Luke have been working together for five years and will continue their friendship.
“Meeting Adrian, meeting Adrian’s family, and the skills I’ve learned with that, you [can] just create long lasting relationships that I feel like [in] another job you probably wouldn’t be able to do, especially on a part time basis,” says Luke who also works full-time as a lawyer.
“It’s just about getting the best out of Adrian and making sure he’s fulfilling his potential.”
