"A difficult start to the year" - from the CEO

18th January 2022

A note from Jordan O'Reilly

Hireup CEO Jordan O'Reilly is talking to the camera in front of a dark grey background. He wears a navy collared shirt.

With the holiday period rapidly coming to an end and everyone getting back into the swing of things, I wanted to start the year by wishing you all a very happy 2022.

This year has certainly got off to a challenging start for many people with disability and their support workers. The Omicron wave presents an enormous challenge - not only to people’s health but to individuals’ day-to-day lives. People are having to juggle accessing supports while sick with support workers shortages as workers isolate. This is all on top of the lack of rapid antigen tests, supply chain shortages and other services having to close due to these pressures.

As we stare down these challenges, I want to let you all know that Hireup is here for each and every person in our community, and will be throughout 2022. We are advocating behind the scenes for free access to Rapid Antigen Tests for people with disability and, through the National Disability Insurance Agency, for support workers too. Meanwhile our team is working with many of our clients directly to supply Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to workers, help clients source support where their usual team is unavailable and give our support workers the help they need to get back to work safely.

There is no doubt this is a hard time but we will get through it together.

If you need support over the coming weeks, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Service team on (02) 9113 5933 or through hello@hireup.com.au

Thank you for being a part of our Hireup community, and looking forward to better times ahead.

Best wishes

Jordan
