Trusting the process: how Maddi and her family found the right support

6th April 2021

With a catch cry like “breastroke is my best-stroke,” there is no mistaking that Hireup user and Special Olympics swimmer Maddi has had some experience in front of the camera. Maddi took part in the reality TV show Love on the Spectrum in 2019.

But this time her family, including Arnold (Maddi’s schnauzer), share the lens to explore their experience using Hireup.

Navigating the NDIS and finding the right support can be a daunting experience. Like most people exploring it for the first time, it was important to Maddi and her family to find the right support worker as well as a safe, supportive provider.

“It was a great relief to us to see that rigor that was applied before Carmen came to us,” says Steve.

Since joining Hireup and meeting support workers, Maddi, her family and Arnold moved states. And they took Hireup with them.

“When we relocated to Queensland, it [Hireup] was my go-to,” says Terri.

Booking support workers between dog dates, moving states, swim training, surfing, being a member at the local nippers and competing in the Special Olympics, needs to be an easy process. Amongst Maddi’s busy schedule, Steve said that it’s “helped them find another degree of freedom” because they’re trusting in the booking process.
