Announcing our major funding and new strategic partnership with SEEK Investments

15th August 2021

By Jordan O'Reilly, CEO, Hireup

My sister Laura and I co-founded Hireup in 2015 with a very clear purpose in mind - to enable the pursuit of a good life for everyone. Growing up alongside our brother, Shane, who lived with cerebral palsy, we saw how the traditional system of home care and support often let him down.

We knew we could do better.

We wanted to build a platform that could better support people with disability and their families. We wanted to offer support workers a new way to work with all the rights, protections and entitlements they deserved. And we wanted to prove that you can indeed use ‘business for good’.

Over the last six years, with the support of countless numbers of people, we’ve built an extraordinary company that provides care and support to more than 10,000 people with disability a year. We employ a similar number of workers, and we’re having a positive impact in communities all across Australia.

But this is only the beginning.

Today we’re delighted to announce that Hireup has secured $40m in funding as part of a long term strategic partnership with SEEK Investments.

This funding is a real endorsement of Hireup’s work, our ambition and our team. With it, we will:

  • Improve the service experience for all of our users, investing further in both technology and people to achieve this
  • Hire more highly motivated, purpose-driven employees into our front-line and central support office teams
  • Invest in more sector partnerships and collaborations to maximise our impact and advance the Australian disability sector
  • Grow our reach and scale, offering trusted support to more people in more communities around Australia

Beyond the funding, we’ve also found the perfect strategic partner in SEEK Investments who join Hireup as a minority shareholder. As one of Australia’s leading and most respected technology investors, with decades of experience building Australia’s leading online job search and education companies, the team at SEEK Investments have been on a journey we hope to emulate. Most importantly, they’re also deeply aligned to our purpose, they share our values and are equally committed to advancing the Australian disability sector over the long term.

Hireup is a company, of course, but we increasingly see ourselves as the heart of a community too. The investment we’re announcing today is a huge vote of confidence in our community - people with disabilities, their families, support workers and Australia’s wider disability sector.

If you’re reading this, that community includes you. We hope to do you proud.
