Finding new travel experiences awakens the discoverer in all of us. We trawl travel sites for the must-do activities, search "where the locals eat," and plan to do something daring, because when you're on holidays the motto tends to be "why not?". But COVID-19 has made planning a holiday a lot more challenging. For some of our community, the challenge of finding adventures that are designed with them in mind has been a problem long before toilet paper shortages and lockdowns.
Accessible accommodation, transport and experiences can be tricky to find. But this doesn’t mean that carving down snowy mountains or camping at the river’s edge can’t be accessible. Hireup user, Sam who recently shared her experiences on International Women’s Day, has put together some of her favourite accessible holidays to give you ideas for your next trip away.
In a recent discussion about accessible design, Hireup UX designer Mel Tran said: “It’s almost impossible to design a solution that fits every single person. It’s a matter of making it as accessible as we can, while being flexible enough to change and adapt to different needs.”
