Hireup's Government Response
At Hireup we are actively reaching out and engaging with representatives from a range of state and federal government agencies to advocate for the wellbeing of our community during this unprecedented pandemic.
We believe it is critical that the feedback and concerns of our community members are heard and actioned by governments to ensure support services remain safe and uninterrupted.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
As of August 22, the NDIA announced that providers can directly claim the costs of PPE from the NDIA.
This means we will not be charging people seeking support for the cost of PPE.
Your feedback was crucial in informing this decision from the NDIA. Thanks to your valuable input, we were able to advocate on your behalf - working closely with the Government to reach this decision.
Ongoing government advocacy
Hireup is also engaging with government representatives to advocate for more joined-up thinking to minimise policy variations in different jurisdictions, which can lead to uncertainty across the disability sector.
We’re also asking questions about preparedness for any potential changes to working conditions for support workers if new restrictions are implemented due to COVID-19 outbreaks, and the possible workforce arrangements that would be needed to ensure continuity of support for people with disability.
